COMPANY SUMMARY
Puerto de Indias is a Premium Strawberry Gin, produced in one of Spain’s oldest and most traditional distilleries in Seville.  The brand was launched by two entrepreneurial brothers from Seville with the vision to make the Gin occasion more favorable and accessible.  The portfolio also includes a traditional Dry Gin called Black Edition.   

Puerto de Indias completely disrupted the Gin category in Spain growing to over 500,000 cases in just 5 years to become the fourth largest gin in Spain and the ninth largest Gin brand in the world.  Based on the tremendous success in Spain, Puerto de Indias has expanded to over 30 countries throughout the world and is now launching in the U.S. market in partnership with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits.   

POSITION SUMMARY  
The Puerto de Indiias State Manager position is responsible for delivering assigned volume and distribution goals for their markets.  The position requires the ability to sell independently to key accounts as well as with the distributor sales reps in the market.  The State Manager is responsible for the following:
  1. Build brand partnerships with 100+ assigned on/off-premise accounts  
  2. Establish product distribution in the assigned account list
  3. Train and educate the staff in each assigned account
  4. Sell-in sampling promotions to assigned accounts and leverage them into orders
  5. Merchandise assigned accounts with POS and displays
  6. Secure drink features on account drink menus  
  7. Take advantage of local PR opportunities in liaison with the PR agency
  8. Track, measure and report on weekly and monthly results
  9. Engage customers and influencers through the brand’s social media channels.
  10. Provide engaging news and information to the PR agency for amplification

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Puerto de Indias State Manager reports directly to the U.S. National Sales & Marketing Director. 

SUPERVISION 
This position works with minimal day to day supervision and a high degree of accountability for results delivery.  Self-discipline, organization and independent judgment are required.  

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS 
  1. Manage at least 75 key on and off-premise accounts within the assigned territory to sell-in initial distribution and develop strong key account partnerships that generate reorders
  2. Serve as the primary contact for the distributor sales teams to ensure they are informed of local and national objectives and programs
  3. Ride with distributor reps at least on a weekly basis to train and motivate the
  4. Actively participate in brand promotions, tastings and events, which often occur in the evenings or on weekends, at least once per week
  5. Report on depletions and accounts sold at both mid-month and end of month while providing weekly account call reporting 
  6. Provide monthly market and competitive brand reports to include key success stories, competitive activities, market trends, distributor feedback and key lessons learned
  7. Participate in distributor business reviews with the distributor management teams
  8. Maintain calendar of market activities and promotions to ensure effective utilization of brand building activities executed by sampler promotional teams
  9. Track, measure and report on results and budgets on a weekly basis
  10. Complete special projects, as needed, such as pricing, distribution or menu surveys 
POSITION SKILLSET REQUIREMENTS  
  • Prior beverage alcohol sales experience is a must for this position 
  • Experience working with a major distributor in the market (SGWS experience preferred)
  • Strong knowledge local market knowledge with existing relationships with key accounts 
  • Ability to work independently and to plan their own time and activities
  • Comfortable working on a high-performance, fast paced entrepreneurial team    
  • Detailed oriented, highly organized with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Willing to work full-time, non-traditional hours
  • Comfortable with cold calling on accounts to sell in distribution and programming  
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to understand, manage and responsibly track assigned budgets
  • Computer proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and web-based reporting tools
  • Experience utilizing social media tools to amplify results  
  • Good credit history with a clean driving record and own transportation 
  • Spanish heritage and language skills preferred but not required
  • College degree preferred
