About The Position
The primary responsibility of the Distributor & Retail Account Manager is to expand the availability and visibility of the Balcones brand within his or her territory.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The primary responsibility of the Distributor & Retail Account Manager is to expand the availability and visibility of the Balcones brand within his or her territory.  This will be achieved by forming ground level tactics to achieve the sales goals established by your manager – including calling on individual and multi unit on and off premise accounts, developing relationships & cultivating mindshare with our distributor (Southern Glazers Wine & Spirits), and educating the trade about craft spirits.  The ideal candidate will be an energetic go-getter that is excited to be the face of an emerging and growing brand, and that will work strategically to grow the brand within his or her territory.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Achieve KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) on a monthly basis: visiting accounts, achieving new distribution, engaging the wholesaler, and selling displays
  • Strategically call on and activate Key Accounts in the market under the direction of your manager
  • Create target lists and efficiently plan routes to most effectively achieve distribution and grow the business
  • Inspire excitement & creativity within the wholesaler team to achieve and execute sales plans
  • Actively engage wholesaler personnel i.e. Sales Reps, Merchandising teams, Sales Managers, and Sales Reps on a monthly basis to help achieve the company’s objectives
  • Work with your manager to create and execute the the planning and implementation of sales programming in your markets
  • Ensure POS and other marketing assets are utilized in the field with correct programs
  • Implement creative programs to activate the consumer, including product sampling, etc.
  • Bridge the gap from the distillery to the ground level by representing the brand culture well
  • Communicate throughout the week with your manager to provide updates on your weekly schedule, challenges, opportunities, and wins in your market
REQUIREMENTS:
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in the beverage industry.  Experience with SGWS a plus.
  • Beginner to Expert knowledge of all things Whisky, eagerness to learn more about brown spirits, craft, and the overall category
  • Possess strong communication skills, good judgement, and plenty of creativity.  
  • Willing to be very “hands-on” to get the job accomplished.
  • Excellent planner and organizer: can set his or her own schedule to effectively hit sales goals
  • Able to take ownership of day-to-day responsibilities as a self-starter
  • Must be willing to have a flexible schedule with some late nights & weekends depending on the time of the year
  • You love to win AND hate to lose!
  • Proficient skills in Excel, Office, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly verbal, including strong presentation skills
