The Regional Sales Manager - Natural will cover the metro markets to include Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, and Denver. The Regional Sales Manager focuses on developing trusted advisor level relationship with Brand Partners, identifies strategies and opportunities within accounts and manages the execution of metro sales managers and representatives.
Successful candidates will effectively penetrate, develop and manage Regional accounts, as well as train, develop and support Sales Representatives within assigned regions. Candidate will develop and maintain sales & marketing programs designed to secure new business opportunities and impact the growth of our product lines within existing and new accounts. Regular customer business reviews are expected. Travel within assigned territory is required. Ability to effectively operate independently from a home-based office is required.
  • Develop trusted advisor relationship with brand partners.
  • Work closely with clients to understand priorities and objectives and develop sales and execution plans accordingly.
  • Provide leadership to the day to day operations of the sales team while also maintaining a focus on the strategic goals of our brand partners and the company’s strategic goals.
  • Recruit, hire and train and conduct performance evaluations for the natural team to maximize their potential capabilities to produce strong sales results within the Natural Sales Division.
  • Maintain high degree of motivation in regional sales team members
  • Develop and maintain tools necessary to achieve sales goals, initiatives, audits, and spiff execution.
  • Consolidate and disseminate all brand information including but not limited to promotions, new items, hip pocket deals, case stacks, holiday items, truckloads, overstocks, displays, demo, audits, and spiff programs.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, competitors, competitive product lines, current retail environment and available promotional and marketing programs.
  • Develop relationships with our manufacturers, corporate headquarter category managers, store buyers and key department contacts, as well as distributor representatives as appropriate.
  • Constant review and improvement of selling territories and account lists.
  • Develop and implement or maintain monthly reporting tools to be utilized externally and internally that summarize accomplishments, targets and opportunities.
  • Assist category managers and buyers during category reviews to maximize sales through product selection by providing new, current and discontinued item recommendations for schematic and reset planning.
  • Utilize reporting tools to analyze movement, lift, placement, and voids; work with sales team to manage, monitor and maximize implementation of placement, plus-outs and promotions.

  • Natural Food Industry professional or personal experience required
  • Knowledge of natural products/brands and retail landscape
  • Extensive sales management experience required (5+ years preferred)
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational and sales skills with the ability to work effectively with team members, peers, management and external customer contacts.
  • A high level of motivation with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to work independently while being a strong team player
  • Excellent written, verbal and listening skills
  • Ability to manage a portfolio of brands and a dedicated sales team
  • Ability to manage a team of diverse individuals
  • Corporate call experience as well as fluency with consumption data, both WFs portal and SPINS
  • Data-mining and analytical abilities
  • Ability to lift 40lbs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word; PowerPoint and Internet literacy
  • Must have a valid driver's license, proof of current auto insurance and be able to drive a car for extended periods of time.
  • College Degree, Bachelor’s Degree preferred or extensive prior experience
  • Natural Food Industry professional or personal experience required
  • 5 year’s sales related and/or consumer goods industry experience preferred
