About The Position
We are looking for an innovative, thoughtful, forward-thinking, and highly skilled Director of Copy to join our Glossier Creative team.
We are looking for an innovative, thoughtful, forward-thinking, and highly skilled Director of Copy to join our Glossier Creative team. This person will lead the company’s voice, messaging, and copy strategy for Glossier across our e-commerce site, owned and earned marketing channels and physical product. The role will report into the VP, Creative Director.

  • Develop, evolve, and oversee the voice for Glossier across customer touch-points:
  • Product/Packaging
  • E-Commerce
  • Brand Marketing
  • Performance Marketing (Email, Display, Social, etc.)
  • Stores
  • Define and lead how our brand comes to life via copy including: the execution of any/all materials requiring copy, company-wide and project by project messaging strategy, and the creation of inspiring and unique storytelling moments
  • Build, manage, and lead a copywriting team to own our approach to messaging/communications hierarchy and its implementation across channels
  • Develop and evolve copy workflows and processes, as related to copy development, product naming, international translations, company-wide tone-of-voice training and more
  • Partner closely with Design, Brand, Production, Digital, Product Development, Customer and other key cross-functional stakeholders to evolve and reinforce the Glossier voice
  • Bachelors in English (or equivalent)
  • 10+ years as a copywriter, copy and/or editorial lead creating marketing programs/materials, honing brand voice, on and offline
  • Proven leadership and direct management experience
  • Experience managing and writing to a brand voice
  • Experience creating and organizing workflow for digital marketing content and physical product content
  • Impeccable project management, organization and communication skills
  • Flexible to work independently and collaboratively across multiple projects
  • Ability to present and represent concepts and ideas
  • Strong competitive knowledge of best-in-class brand building copy practices
  • Strong conceptual skills with intuitive knowledge of how copy relates to design, graphics and concept inspiration
  • Proactive attitude, creative thinking abilities with ability/confidence to challenge status quo
  • Strategic problem solving skills, ability to address business objectives intelligently and creatively
  • An entrepreneurial outlook
  • Exceptional attention to detail(s)
  • Ability to multitask / juggle many projects, teams and relationships
  • Eager to take on new challenges, introduce and implement new approaches and ideas, grow, test and learn
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters in English, Creative Writing (or equivalent)
  • Start-up background
  • Beauty industry and product knowledge
