About The Position

We are looking for a proactive Art Director to join our Glossier Creative team. The role will work collaboratively with a cross-functional team to concept, design, and produce compelling content across multiple channels and platforms -- with a focus on our paid, digital performance channels. We are looking for a proactive, self-motivated, and inspirational candidate with solid visual and motion design capabilities and understanding of online marketing media channels and the social/digital content space.

Our in-house Creative team is responsible for a range of content -- from Glossier’s brand voice and messaging, retail/experiential production, to product and packaging design for each of our products. The role will report into the VP, Creative Director.

  • Establish creative direction and develop/present concepts for multi-platform, multi-channel projects that meet the global business objectives of the organization and that advance the global brand and marketing strategy
  • Ensure direction is retained throughout the whole production process, working closely with our Creative Ops/Production and Design teams
  • Direct photo and video shoots (in studio and on location)
  • Work closely with our Talent team to cast talent for our shoots
  • Work closely with the Creative Operations/Production team to source new freelance and vendor talent (photographers, make-up artists, etc.)
  • Shoot plan and shot list creation, manage and develop briefs for shoot creative services
  • Post-production selects, retouching/editing notes and all else involved to bring creative direction to life
  • Research new ideas and channels, stay on top of new channels and digital social trends
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience in art direction, content development, and/or content
  • Experience as a motivated, scrappy self-starter
  • Knowledge of social and digital content platform current best practices, technologies and creative standards and aesthetic
  • Excellent communication skills, strong organizational and team work skills, ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting under tight deadlines with strong project and time management skills
  • Proven video and on-set experience
  • Comfortable working autonomously and collaboratively
  • Good with people, knowledge and understanding of the Glossier product and brand -- a self-defined beauty junkie
  • Abstract thinking, creative energy, confidence, self-motivation
  • Knowledge and experience working with both creative and marketing teams
  • A portfolio demonstrating relevant experience
  • Eager to take on new challenges, introduce and implement new approaches and ideas, grow, test and learn
  • Ability to work out of our office in NYC 2-3 times a week
Preferred Qualifications
  • Agency and/or start-up background
  • An established network of creative photographers, video editors, and other talent in the NYC and LA areas
  • Knowledge of relevant tools: Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Microsoft Office, Keynote, Google G-Suite, etc.
  • Graphic design experience
  • Experience leading photo and video production
